GoHighLevel setup and implementation for NZ service businesses
Horton Taylor sets up GoHighLevel for New Zealand trade and cleaning businesses. GoHighLevel is a marketing CRM that holds your leads, moves them through a pipeline and runs the follow-up, review requests and booking automatically. Most builds go live inside three weeks, and a free 15-minute call gets you one fixed number for yours.
Most service businesses do not have a lead problem, they have a follow-up problem. GoHighLevel fixes the second one. Mitch builds the pipelines, the automated follow-up and the review requests, then hands you an account you own and know how to use.
Leads come in from your website and ads, then sit in an inbox until Sunday night
You quote someone once, hear nothing, and never chase them again
You have to remember to ask every customer for a Google review, so you mostly do not
You signed up to GoHighLevel, opened the dashboard, and closed the tab
What is GoHighLevel?
GoHighLevel is a marketing CRM built for agencies and small service businesses. It stores every lead in one place, moves them through a visible sales pipeline, and runs the follow-up automatically: emails, texts, missed-call responses, review requests and booking reminders. It is often called HighLevel, and both names mean the same product.
The honest summary is that it is a very good engine with no wiring. Nothing about it is trade-specific out of the box, which is why an empty account is intimidating. The build is the job, not the subscription, and buying the subscription without the build changes nothing.
A CRM that holds every enquiry from your website, ads, Google Business Profile and phone in one list
Pipelines so you can see at a glance who has been quoted, who is booked and who has gone quiet
Automated email and SMS follow-up, missed-call text-back and review requests
Booking calendars, landing pages, forms and reporting in the same account
What Mitch sets up in your GoHighLevel account
The build is the same five pieces every time, worded and sequenced around how your business actually sells. A window cleaning business quoting off photos needs a different pipeline to a builder doing site visits. We start with the pipeline, because everything else hangs off it.
The part that surprises people is how much value sits in the first five minutes after an enquiry. A lead that gets a text back inside two minutes is a different lead to one that gets a call back the next morning, and your competitors are almost all in the next-morning group.
Pipelines: stages that match your real sales process, from new enquiry through quoted, booked, completed and won back, so nothing sits in limbo
Follow-up automation: instant reply to every new lead, missed-call text-back, and a quote-chasing sequence that runs for weeks without you touching it
Review requests: an automatic ask a day or two after the job is finished, pointed straight at your Google Business Profile, using the timing and wording in how to get more Google reviews in NZ
Booking: calendars for quotes and site visits, with reminders that cut no-shows, embedded on your website
Reactivation: seasonal email and SMS campaigns to the customers already in your database, the same play behind our email and SMS remarketing work
GoHighLevel vs ServiceM8: they do different jobs
They are not competitors. GoHighLevel handles everything up to the point somebody says yes, and ServiceM8 handles everything from that point on. GoHighLevel is a marketing CRM: lead capture, pipelines, campaigns and follow-up at volume. ServiceM8 is job management: quoting, the diary, job cards and invoicing.
If you only want one tool and the admin is the mess, start with ServiceM8 setup and support and use its built-in reminders. If enquiries leak out of your inbox before they become quotes, GoHighLevel earns its keep first. Run both and GoHighLevel owns the lead until it is won.
Mitch runs every account personally from Mount Maunganui.
What GoHighLevel costs in New Zealand
Two separate costs, and it matters that you see both: the subscription you pay GoHighLevel directly, and the one-off build to make it do something. Nearly every service business we set up sits on the Starter plan and never needs more.
Our side is a one-off build fee, moved by how many pipelines you need, how many sequences get written and how many systems have to connect. Ongoing support afterwards is optional. If GoHighLevel is the wrong platform, CRM implementation covers the same work on whatever fits better.
Starter US$97 a month, Unlimited US$297 and Agency Pro US$497, each with a 14-day free trial (gohighlevel.com, as at July 2026)
At mid-2026 rates Starter lands around NZ$160 a month and Unlimited around NZ$490, before your bank adds a foreign transaction fee
SMS, emails and phone numbers are billed on top by consumption, so check the current rates before a big campaign
Plan names and prices change without notice, so check gohighlevel.com before you budget
Do you actually need GoHighLevel?
Sometimes not, and we would rather say so than take a build fee for software you will not open. It makes sense when three things are true: you already get a decent number of enquiries, more than one person touches them, and you know some are going cold.
Twenty enquiries a month and one person answering the phone does not need a marketing CRM. Two hundred across a website, Google Ads, Meta and a Google Business Profile does. Automating an empty pipeline gets you a tidy view of nothing, so start at lead generation in Tauranga instead.
More booked jobs, less guesswork.

What happens after the build
You own the account. It sits in your name, on your card, with your data in it, and you can carry on without us at any time. No agency sub-account you cannot get out of, and no hostage situation over your own customer list.
Training is live over a screen share in your own account and recorded, and most owners need about an hour. Then it just runs. One exterior cleaning client had 3,000 past customers and no system for contacting them, and the automated email and SMS lifted rebookings 150% with no extra ad spend.
You work directly with Mitch.

How it works
Our digital marketing process
01
Scope call and quote
A free 15-minute call about where your enquiries come from, how many you get, what happens to them now and where they go cold. You get a fixed number before anything starts, or an honest no if you do not need this yet.
02
Map the pipeline
We write down how your business really sells, stage by stage, before touching the software. Getting this right is why the automations end up useful instead of noisy.
03
Build and connect
Mitch builds the pipelines, follow-up sequences, review requests and booking calendars, then wires up your website forms, ad lead forms and job management software so leads land automatically.
04
Train, launch and review
A recorded screen-share session in your own account, then go live and a check-in a fortnight later to fix wording, timing and anything the real world exposed.
Where we work
Areas we serve
Mitch is based in Mount Maunganui. Because a GoHighLevel build and the training both happen over a screen share, the same package and the same quote apply wherever you are. Bay of Plenty is the home patch and the rest of the country is covered remotely by screen share, phone and email.
SWISH had 3,000+ past customers but no systematic way to re-engage them. The team was flat out serving current customers, so manual follow-up wasn't happening.
What we did
Cleaned and structured the 3,000-record customer database into something usable.
Built monthly email newsletters featuring seasonal services and recent project work.
Layered in SMS campaigns that made rebooking as friction-free as possible.
What happened
150% increase in customer rebooking rates
New upsell opportunities for additional services
Lift in referrals from reactivated customers
A sustainable recurring revenue stream without expanding ad spend
"Mitch has been a god send to my window cleaning business! We've been working together for just over two months and in that short time we've doubled the jobs coming through and implemented software and systems that make admin a breeze. Can't recommend Horton Taylor enough!"
Hogan Duke, Duke Property Services
"Couldn't be happier with the results we have been getting from Mitch and Horton Taylor. Our customer rebookings have gone through the roof and our calendar is booked out even in the slow months."
Kyle G, Reflections Window Cleaning
Questions we get about digital marketing for service businesses
How much does GoHighLevel setup cost in NZ?
Three things move the build: how many pipelines you need, how many follow-up and reactivation sequences get written, and how many other systems have to connect. A basic build is one pipeline plus instant lead reply, missed-call text-back, review requests and a booking calendar. A bigger one adds multiple pipelines, quote-chasing and reactivation sequences and the integrations with your website, ads and job management software. Ongoing support is optional, and ad-hoc help is hourly. Book a free 15-minute call and you get one fixed number before anyone starts work. That is separate from what GoHighLevel charges you for the subscription.
How much does GoHighLevel itself cost?
GoHighLevel bills you directly in US dollars. As at July 2026 its published plans are US$97 a month for Starter, US$297 for Unlimited and US$497 for Agency Pro, each with a 14-day free trial (gohighlevel.com pricing). SMS, email and phone numbers are charged on usage on top of that. At mid-2026 exchange rates Starter works out around NZ$160 a month before any foreign transaction fee your bank adds. Almost every single service business we set up runs happily on Starter.
GoHighLevel or ServiceM8: which one do I need?
They do different jobs, so this is rarely either-or. GoHighLevel is a marketing CRM for capturing leads, chasing quotes and running campaigns. ServiceM8 is job management software for quoting, scheduling, job cards and invoicing through to Xero. If your admin is the mess, start with ServiceM8 setup and support. If your enquiries are going cold before they become quotes, start with GoHighLevel. A lot of trades end up running both, with GoHighLevel owning the lead until it is won and ServiceM8 taking over from there.
Can GoHighLevel replace the CRM I already have?
Often yes, and sometimes it should not. GoHighLevel replaces the marketing side of most small-business CRMs comfortably, and it usually replaces two or three separate tools at once, which is where the monthly saving comes from. But if you already run HubSpot, Pipedrive or something your accountant or franchise requires, moving may cost more than it saves. That comparison is exactly what CRM implementation covers, and the quote depends on the platform and how much data has to migrate.
How long does a GoHighLevel build take?
Most builds go live inside three weeks, and the bigger multi-pipeline ones take three to four. Very little of that is build time. It is mostly waiting on your side: the wording you want in the follow-up messages, access to your website and ad accounts, and finding an hour in your diary for training. Your own involvement is about three hours in total across the scope call, a wording review and the training session.
Will it send texts to New Zealand mobile numbers?
Yes. You buy a New Zealand phone number inside the account and messages are charged per send on top of your plan, so budget for usage as well as the subscription. Set-up includes getting the sending number, the reply handling and the missed-call text-back working properly, because a text people cannot reply to is worse than no text at all. Check the current per-message rates in the account before planning a large campaign, as they change.
Do the automated review requests actually work?
They work far better than remembering to ask. A request that fires automatically a day or two after the job is finished, while the customer is still pleased, converts at a much better rate than one sent a fortnight later, and it goes out on every single job instead of the ones you remembered. One of our exterior cleaning clients has over 100 five-star Google reviews and a waste removal client has more than 350, and reviews at that volume come from a system rather than good intentions.
What if I have hardly any leads to organise yet?
Then automation is the wrong first spend, and we will say so. Building pipelines for an empty database gets you a very tidy view of nothing. Start with the customers you already have, because a seasonal email and SMS campaign to a list you own is a fraction of the cost of an automation build and turns up work quickly. One winter campaign to a 2,000-person list produced 55 bookings and $17.5K of work. After that, look at conversion and traffic in the order set out on lead generation in Tauranga. If all you need is automated rebooking reminders, a simpler stack does that for less each month.
